A little about me...
Peyton Lawler is a ceramic artist whose work balances function with aesthetics. Drawing inspiration from the architectural genius of Frank Lloyd Wright, she incorporates his use of grids, negative space, repetition, and rectilinear lines into her ceramic pieces, merging structure with organic influences. Her lifelong fascination with birds adds a delicate touch to her designs, exploring the duality of control and fragility inherent in both nature and architecture.
Having earned her BFA from the University of North Alabama and her MFA from the University of Mississippi, Lawler is deeply rooted in her craft. She skillfully uses the potter's wheel to create utilitarian objects that serve as both everyday essentials and artistic statements. Her exploration of form and structure results in ceramics that invite viewers to appreciate their intricate design and thoughtful construction.
Currently, Peyton Lawler is an artist-in-residence at Midwestern State University in Texas, where she also serves as an adjunct instructor. Through her residency, she continues to refine her artistic voice, pushing the boundaries of ceramics while mentoring aspiring artists. Her work resonates with a sense of timelessness, bridging architectural precision with the organic beauty of nature.
